Society is a tale 4 women rediscovering friendship after years apart when they are reunited by the sudden death of a mutual friend. Set in middle-class Johannesburg, Society criss-crosses the volatile, intense and loving friendships of 4 women trying to make a new future in an ‘empowered’ world.
Four high school friends Akua, Lois, Innocentia and Beth, are reunited by the death of Dineo a friend whom they had all lost touch with. The women form a burial society or 'Society' to help Dineo’s mom with burial costs. Dineo's death renuites these women and they begin building new friendships and experiences in the fast paced life of Johannesburg.
